Luah.hu

About this project

Luah.hu, since its launch in 2016, has been an event calendar collecting programs and events for and about Hungarian Jewry and Judaism. The project aims to have one central place for programs and events in an easy-to-read format for our target audience. The target audience includes readers and visitors interested in Jewish community programs, Jewish culture, and Judaism.

Why is it important?

Why is it important?

The Jewish communities usually advertise their programs on their own Facebook page, so they reach only those who follow their page. Therefore, due to user habits and the cultural, political, and religious division within the community, the promotion of these events and programs usually stays within the borders of a cultural bubble. With the help of Luah community calendar, all events and programs of the Hungarian Jewish community can be accessed in one central place. Visitors can find their way around easily to decide which events match their interests and schedule the best for them. In addition, organizers can also find useful information to schedule their events properly and avoid clashes with other organizations' programs.

Why is it special?

Why is it special?

There is no other project like Luah in Hungary. The unique feature behind the website is that it is fully automated: its own built-in bot collects events 24/7 without manual intervention. In addition to community programs, it also offers cultural programs, concerts, and lectures from the database of ticket portals. It displays the event calendar on an interactive map helping the users find their way around and navigating them to the event location and provides a direct link to the events to help with ticket purchases or registration. Luah sends its users desktop and mobile notifications about daily events. In addition, it also features a thematic news section next to the event calendar on its front page, which lists the latest headlines from the Hungarian media as well as the world's leading Jewish news sources.
