Jewish Culture 2028

About this project

The goal of Marom's multi-year project, established in 2018, is to organize progressive cultural and artistic programs related to Hungary's Jewish community based on the active involvement of the participants. Its core activities are organizing cultural exhibitions and programs, mentoring, and offering micro-grants. We intend to connect artists with little experience in the Jewish community with experienced ones and curators. We build a network supporting Jewish artistic endeavors both financially and intellectually. The target audience of the project is artists between the ages of 18 and 55 from Budapest and the countryside and potential visitors of the same age group interested in contemporary, independent culture.

Why is it important?

Why is it important?

Jewish Culture 2028 attempts to recruit artists, musicians, theater artists, as well as cultural program organizers, museum experts, and curators who would like to actively participate in creating a new artistic and cultural platform reflecting on topics and issues of contemporary Jewish identity. Our goal is to develop and introduce works borne out of our collaboration that offer new perspectives about Jewish identity through art to the Jewish community and everybody in general who is interested in contemporary culture.

Why is it special?

Why is it special?

Neither Marom Association, nor other Jewish organizations focus on the exploration, development, support, and even presentation of Jewish works of art. In most cases, other organizations' programs support and present them, which we supplement with calls for proposals and mental support. With this help, we believe projects will be able to develop more intensively. We also help them reach domestic and hopefully international venues as well as wider audiences. Our goal is to continuously expand our network team with new members and thus inspire the artists to create and showcase new works in the Jewish artistic environment.
