Inclusivity Training for Educators

About this project

There are children in every kindergarten and school group and even in nurseries in Hungary who develop differently and/or have behavior problems. As more and more children have different challenges, teachers should have a methodology and approach to help them in their everyday work. As part of the training, a board game of our own design and many practical examples show the participants how they can involve children with different abilities in group activities. In addition, the training also aims to help create a teacher-parent partnership as well as inclusive communities, inclusive groups, and classes.

The training answers many cries for help. On the one hand, it responds to problems of children with different developmental challenges, who often drift to the edge of their peer community because they can hardly make friends, if at all, also lack confidence, and can develop learning difficulties later. At a young age in an institution, the teacher is the greatest support, who can detect the problem and help these children. On the other hand, it responds to the teachers' fears of meeting in their work, as it is not easy with such children, especially if one has no adequate support or practical tools. Moreover, it encourages and supports the teacher-parent partnership, which is inevitable for the well-being of all stakeholders.

Each aspect of the multi-faceted approach is introduced through practical examples: what is behind the different behavior, how can I help the child and involve the child in the community and his/her peers in helping the child through play, how can I be a partner for the parents, and how can I ensure a good relationship among the parents. We also emphasize the personal experiences of the participants. During the training sessions, with the help of the board game, the teachers work together to plan the activities for their respective groups/classes.
