Tandem Mentor Program

About this project

Skilly's Tandem Mentorship Program provides individual mentoring to people with disabilities to help their social participation. In the project, volunteer mentors attend the Skilly training in order to equip themselves to help disabled mentees responsibly to reach their goals. These goals could be professional or personal fulfillment and a more accessible and inclusive society. Our mentees are connected mentors who – based on their skills and personality – can effectively support them through regular mentor-mentee meetings.

Why is it important?

Why is it important?

In addition to career support, people with disabilities often need life coaching. Moreover, in many cases, they need to develop existing and new skills as well as increase their confidence and motivation. The mentors' work improved their chances in the job market, contributed to their social inclusion, reduced their isolation during the COVID period, and helped them to reach their goals such as higher education, finding a job, or keeping a new job.

Why is it special?

Why is it special?

The Tandem Mentorship Program is a unique service that provides individual mentoring for people with disabilities in today's Hungary. In order for Skilly to maximize the number of jobseekers it could support, it developed a special mentor training. In the program, we train several skilled volunteers to become successful individual supporters of people with disabilities. For this purpose, we have developed a unique training method to help volunteers prepare, motivate, and assist their mentees in their successful job search. The most important pillars of participation are the personal focus, creativity, empathy, and responsibility.
