We all can!

About this project

People with disabilities have many challenges and can rarely live as an integrated part of society. In 2020 on the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities, many organizations working with people with disabilities started a visibility campaign called "We all can". The goal is to show if they receive the same opportunities, they can also have a full life. The campaign presents life stories of successful professionals with disabilities: Tamás Barkó, a museum docent, dancer, and actor; Károly Tóth, a theater historian and dance artist; Gábor Bocskai, a cognitive researcher; Luca Ekler world and European para-athlete; Hajnalka Smodics, a waitress; Erik Herczeg, a software developer, and the Freekey team allowed us a peek into their professional and personal lives.

Why is it important?

Why is it important?

Society often thinks of people with disabilities as a passive, marginalized, pitiful group. Skilly would like to refill the image of people with disabilities with new content and allow them to show their skills, strengths, and successes besides their disabilities, so the majority of society would realize that there are more similarities than differences.

Why is it special?

Why is it special?

In this initiative, we deliberately did not look for the partnership of organizations and individuals working specifically with people with disabilities. We approached organizations where it is an integral part of everyday life that members of the majority of society are in touch or work with people with disabilities. Skilly has been working on connecting people from different sectors, therefore, as a result, their cause would spread and appear as a force. Through wider exposure and visibility, inclusiveness and diversity could become a value shared by the community. The organizations that participated in the campaign were the following: Skilly, Béta Lab, Freekey, Ízlelő Étterem (Taste Restaurant), SignCoders, Hungarian Paralympic Committee, ArtMan Foundation.
