Teleki-Detectivity

About this project

Our main goal was to develop detective games to improve tolerance and provide insight into Jewish urban history, culture, and the events of World War II. We collaborated with the team at Detectivity, sociologists, researchers, and our NGO partners. The investigations either explore historical periods or reflect on our current time. We recommend the game called Teleki Secret gift for 6-12-year-olds, Detectives of Teleki Square for 13-year-olds and up, including adults, and The way of the Ghost for high school students and adults.

Why is it important?

Why is it important?

We think introducing Judaism and Jewish culture to young people through experiential education has not been done before. We aim to raise their interest and engage them in a story through personal life stories. With the method of edutainment, we create situations where the attendees can experience a sense of achievement as active participants in sessions on social issues. Annually, with our problem-solving, history-discovering, immersive detective games, we reach 20-25 classes and 5-8 groups of adults, close to 800 people. We have developed partnerships with several schools, and as a result, we have many returning teachers.

Our foundation organizes several popular walks. However, the walks and the detective games are two different approaches. During the game, the participants gain various experiences and social knowledge improving their communication, collaboration, and analytical skills. A reflective discussion follows the game, during which subject matter experts help the participants process the experience with a special focus on Judaism-related knowledge. Researchers provided the background for these complex investigations as we integrated the personal stories of Teleki's team. The activities combine various non-formal educational methods like drama pedagogy, interactive theater, film, living library, and circus pedagogy through Detectivity's work.
