Family Days

About this project

Our Family Days project's in-person and online workshops focused on different religious holidays, recalling their stories, symbols, and associated objects. We also organized creative workshops and discussions around them in each event with the help of art therapy and its tools. We believe these tools are the most suitable for this age group to learn about religion and culture. The activities were organically complemented by discussions where participants could freely express their opinions and feelings, were listened to, and could feel the impact of the holidays on their lives as well as the sense of belonging to a community.

The goal of these workshops was to introduce Jewish traditions to the young generations through attractive community programs. We tried to reach young people and families who were not following Jewish traditions but were curious about them and also interested in participating in occasional programs with their children, where they could meet and learn about the holidays and other Jewish traditions. We did this to meet the needs of those secular Jews who are interested in neither the Orthodox, nor the Neolog stream, and who do not follow religious laws very strictly yet could be interested in inspiring and high-quality cultural and educational events.

The Congregation Bet Orim is based on total egalitarianism while it offers pluralistic Jewish experiences and represents Jewish spirituality. People not only from Budapest but from other municipalities attend to our events. Due to our inclusive approach, all age groups are welcomed in our community and represented in our events. The joint family games served both the family and the community spirit. During these games, parents and children could get to know Jewish traditions in a playful way.
